The Peak to Peak Pedal is a life-changing event, not just for the cyclists, but for those whom the ride supports. Children (and children at heart) with disabilities learn to face challenges and develop important skills through the programs of the United States Adaptive Recreation Center (USARC), programs supported by events such as the Peak to Peak Pedal. |

| The 15th Annual Peak to Peak Pedal is an amazing adventure covering five days, two mountain ranges, and 335 miles. On day one, cyclists depart Mammoth Mountain for a mile-vertical descent, past towering serrated peaks, out of the pines and past shimmering gold aspens, winding down into Bishop. Day two parallels the spectacular Sierra Crest, as this flattest day eases through the bucolic hamlets of Independence and Lone Pine, past historic Manzanar to beautiful Diaz Lake. Leaving Mt. Whitney’s imposing granite flanks on the third day, cyclists head south along the Owens Valley, past ancient cinder cones, glowing yellow sage and sparkling blue lakes, and ever downward into Ridgecrest. On day four, sage becomes Joshua trees, beckoning riders onward, up a few solid climbs, past mining towns and over long flat stretches perfect for fast pacelines into Barstow. The last day crosses the desert in morning coolness, before the warm-up transit of Goat Mt. Pass, and the thrill of one last long downhill before the true crux of the ride, the arduous ascent to Big Bear, where cheers and tears (of joy) proclaim success! |
