COME HAVE SOME FUN ON THE SLOPES.

From December through March, physical and cognitive limitations are redefined through skiing and snowboarding. Using the best adaptive equipment and teaching techniques available, private one-on-one instruction maximizes each participant’s potential for success.

Mono-skis, bi-skis, and outriggers allow beginners to quickly feel the freedom of gliding down the mountain while those with more skill and determination take on the advanced slopes.

As a member school of the Professional Ski Instructors of America, the USARC maintains high standards of service and safety. Each student is individually assessed by an instructor, outfitted with appropriate adaptive equipment and led through the lesson at a safe, yet challenging pace. The half-day or full-day lesson includes private instruction, lift ticket, and equipment.

Strength, balance, and range of motion determine the types of stand up skiing options to use. We have plenty of adaptive equipment and techniques that allow you to enjoy the slopes.

STAND UP SKIING/RIDING

Two Tracker
Just like traditional skiing using two legs, two boots, and two skis, your trained instructor will use plenty of adaptive devices and techniques to help control speed, direction, and fatigue while skiing.

This is skiing on one leg with two hand-held outriggers or a slider to assist with balance and turning. Those with amputations, atrophy, range of motion, or discomfort issues will experience a sense of independence

Similar to traditional skiing with two boots, two skis; however, adaptive equipment of hand-held outriggers or a slider is used to assist the skier with balance and fatigue while skiing

You will use two boots, one board, and have to do lots of bending over, sitting down and standing up. Our snowboard instruction uses a variety of adaptive equipment and techniques to get you up and having a good time.

If you are concerned about standing up to ski, we have you covered. USARC offers sit-skiing options that allow individuals to enjoy the slopes too.

SIT-SKIING

The Bi-Ski is an adaptive ski with two skis underneath. It can be used with hand-held outriggers or fixed outriggers. Bi-Skiers use the assistance of experienced instructors to help control speed and turn shape.

The Mono-Ski is an adaptive ski with one ski underneath. It allows the skier to ski independently with hand-held outriggers. The skier needs a decent amount of shoulder and arm strength along with upper-body mobility.
